| When men and women get their hands on religion, one of the first things they often do is turn it into an instrument for controling others, either putting or keeping them "in their place." The history of such religious manipulation and coercion is long and tedious. It is little wonder that people who have only known religion on such terms experience release or escape from it as freedom. Like taking a break from church/religion or running from it completely. The problem is that it isn't freedom at all. So they are left there screaming where is my escape? | So I have a question to ponder: It is whether people do what they are or if they are what they do...

| So it's been a week since returning from Mississippi and I have poison oak. It's comforting to know that some of my fellow Missionaries share in my condition... small price to pay. We were only able to help 7 families all with trees fallen into their houses. We left at Midnight on Friday and drove 6 hours south. We brought 30 five gallon and 10 two and half gallon gas tanks filled with gas. We passed these out as well as any other items we could gather/buy like flashlights, lanterns, diapers, food, water, etc. We met with the mayor of Lauerl, MS and hooked up with a Pastor Graves from Calvary Baptist Church. He took us to many houses where we were able to "chainsaw" them out of a mess. Some houses were totally destroyed, others were minor damaged, and others just had a mess. We are planning to go back down there later in October to have "Yard Free" (like a yard sale). If you know me and want to add items to our list, please let me know!
